Examining the effects of biofield therapy through simultaneous assessment of electrophysiological and cellular outcomes
Energy Healer-Cell
Synchrony
Researchers reported that non contact biofield treatment directed at human pancreatic cancer cells coincided with measurable shifts in the practitioner’s EEG and heart rate variability and produced a smaller rise in intracellular calcium compared with sham conditions. The pattern suggests a possible link between the practitioner’s physiological state during treatment and subtle changes in cellular activity in the target cells.
Research Question: Does a biofield healer’s body change during treatment, and is there a measurable, "wireless" connection between the healer’s brain activity and the behavior of cancer cells in a lab?
Key Findings: Significant shifts in brain waves and heart rhythms occurred in the healer during treatment. Remarkably, a "two-way street" of communication was discovered: the healer’s brain activity predicted changes in the cells, and the cells' activity predicted changes in the healer’s brain. The treatment also significantly reduced the ability of cancer cells to spread.
Design: A double-blind, high-tech case study using cancer cells to rule out the placebo effect.
- Intervention Groups: 1) Healer treating live cancer cells, 2) Healer treating dead cells or empty dishes, and 3) A non-healer "mimic" treating cells as a control.
- Dosage: 60 separate 15-minute sessions conducted over 10 days.
Subjects: 1 expert practitioner (71-year-old male) and human pancreatic cancer cells.
Biofield / Energy Healing Intervention: Bengston Energy Healing Method (specifically "Image Cycling").
Results:
- Overall Results: The healer showed clear, consistent physical shifts in brain and heart activity while "sending" healing.
- Primary Outcome Results: The biofield treatment markedly inhibited the invasiveness (the ability to spread) of the cancer cells compared to the control group.
- Secondary Outcome Results: BT treatment resulted in significantly lower calcium levels in the cells—a sign of reduced cancer cell activity and growth—compared to sham treatment.
Discussion:
- Focus and Visualization: The healer's brain waves shifted into patterns associated with deep concentration and mental imagery.
- Detection of Life: Even though the healer didn't know if he was treating live or dead cells, his heart and brain physically responded differently when live cancer cells were present.
- Wireless Communication: Complex math (Granger causality) showed that the cells' activity influenced the healer's brain, and the healer's brain influenced the cells' internal signaling.
- No Placebo Effect: Because the targets were cells in a dish, the results cannot be explained by the cells "believing" they were getting better.
Conclusion: This study provides rigorous evidence of a real-time, measurable connection between a human healer and living cancer cells. It suggests that energy healing involves a sophisticated biological exchange that can directly influence cancer cell behavior.

Measurable Impacts of Therapeutic Alliance
Summary: Brain imaging of patient clinician pairs during pain treatment showed that nonverbal mirroring and synchronized activity in social mirroring networks tracked closely with how much pain relief the patient experienced. These findings highlight a measurable neurobiological pathway through which the therapeutic relationship itself can influence physiological outcomes.
Social Interactions at a
Distance
Research monitoring pairs of people separated in space reported subtle but statistically significant correlations in brain-wave (EEG) activity between one person who received a sensory stimulus and another in a separate, isolated room. This suggests the possibility that individuals might influence or “resonate with” each other’s neural processes even without direct physical or sensory contact.

Biophotonic Communication Among Organisms
This study demonstrated that populations of single celled organisms could influence each other’s cell division and energy uptake even when separated by glass or quartz cuvettes that blocked any bio-chemical contact but allowed photons to pass. The findings support the idea that cells can use ultraweak light emissions as an additional channel of communication, suggesting a non chemical, photon based signaling system in cell biology.
Sender-Receiver Twin Connectivity
In experiments with sensorily isolated identical twins, the twin who was not exposed to visual stimuli still showed shifts in brain functional connectivity that aligned with the moments the other twin viewed the images. This outcome adds to evidence that neural activity can show coordinated patterns between individuals even when all conventional channels of communication are blocked.
